Als ich heute Morgen mit dem Sonnenaufgang erwachte, befand ich mich noch stets im Paradies! : ) Da es unglaublich heiss ist hier (tagsüber 36 Grad, in der Nacht 28), beschloss ich gleich morgens früh auf meine obligate Jogging-Entdeckungstour zu gehen... wie schööön, auch das Schwimmen im 29 Grad heissen Meer!!! : )
When I woke up this morning with the sunrise, I was still in paradise! : ) Since it is incredibly hot here (36 centigrade during the day, 28 at night), I decided to go on my obligatory jogging tour for discovery first thing in the morning... how lovely, also the swim in the 29 centigrade hot sea!!! : )

Zurück im Studios St. Martin (https://www.studiostmartin.com) rief mich jemand vom Flughafen an, dass meine Koffer heute auf der Air France Maschine sind und ich sie um 14 Uhr abholen könne... als ich dann freudig dort wartete, war nur meine kleine Reisetasche angekommen... Zum Glück ist St. Martin (französischer Teil) oder Sint Maarten (holländischer Teil) klein mit 90 km2 ( 9x10 km) und ca. 75'000 Einwohnern, so benötige ich nur ca. 1/2 h vom einen zum andern Ende. Und nach dem überschwemmten Dubai im April (https://franziskaaeschbach30.blogspot.com), kann mich nichts mehr so leicht aus der Bahn werfen! Zudem lerne ich den französischen Teil der Insel so richtig kennenlernen!? Auf dem Rückweg stoppte ich bei Chez Maria (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100075362537160&sk=about), eines der Lolo Restaurants in Marigot – mmmhhhhh!
Back at Studios St. Martin (https://www.studiostmartin.com), someone from the airport called me to announce that my suitcases were on the Air France plane today and that I could pick them up at 2 pm... when I was happily waiting there, only my small travel bag had arrived... Luckily, St. Martin (French part) or Sint Maarten (Dutch part) is small with 90 km2 (9x10 km) and 75'000 inhabitants, thus it only took me about half an hour to get from one end to the other. And after the flooded Dubai in April (https://franziskaaeschbach30.blogspot.com), nothing can throw me off track so easily! Like this I also get to know the French part of the island!? On the way back I stopped at Chez Maria (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100075362537160&sk=about), one of the Lolo restaurants in Marigot – mmmhhhhh!

Am Freitag um 13:30 Uhr machte ich mich wieder auf den Weg zum Juliana Airport, diesmal ziemlich vergebens, denn mein grosser Koffer war nicht mit an Bord! Ich fuhr zur Digicel (https://www.digicelgroup.com/mq/en/mobile) in Marigot um wenigstens eine lokale Telefonnummer zu haben, die in der ganzen Karibik funktioniert: +590690130563. Auf dem Rückweg passierte ich Friar’s Beach und genoss den Sonnenuntergang mit Abendessen im Korner in Grand Case (https://www.facebook.com/kornersxm).
On Friday at 1:30 pm I set off again for Juliana Airport, this time in vain, because my large suitcase was not on board! I drove to Digicel (https://www.digicelgroup.com/mq/en/mobile) in Marigot to at least have a local phone number that works throughout the Caribbean: +590690130563. On the way back I passed Friar’s Beach and enjoyed the sunset with dinner at Korner in Grand Case (https://www.facebook.com/kornersxm).

Am Samstag Morgen rief ich den Flughafen an um nachzufragen ob mein Koffer sich auf dem heutigen Flug befindet... und ja, er würde heute um 14 Uhr eintreffen! : ) Da es früh am Morgen war und ich die Nachbarinsel Pinel noch nicht erkundet hatte, machte ich mich mit einem der Kanus zur Insel. Ich benötige 15 Minuten und genoss die kleine Insel fast alleine, bis die erste Fähre mit Tagesurlauber kam und ich zurückpadelte…
On Saturday morning I called the airport to ask if my suitcase was on today’s flight... and yes, it would arrive today at 2 pm! : ) Since it was early in the morning and I hadn't explored the neighbouring island of Pinel yet, I headed to the island in one of the canoes. It took me 15 minutes and I enjoyed the small island almost alone until the first ferry with day trippers arrived and I paddled back...

Um 13 Uhr machte ich mich auf Richtung Flughafen, diesmal fuhr ich zuerst zur Maho Beach um im Driftwood (https://www.facebook.com/sxmdriftwood) bei den dicht über unseren Köpfen landenden Flugzeugen einen leckeren gegrillten Lobster zu verschlingen! : ) Um 14:30 Uhr nahm ich dann in Flughafen tatsächlich meinen zweiten vermissten Koffer in Empfang – nun muss ich nur noch alles einreichen um eine Entschädigung zu erhalten!?
In St.
Martin oder Sint Maarten ist die Zeit -6 Stunden von Mitteleuropa. Die Insel
erinnert mich etwas an die Seychellen (https://franziskaaeschbach26.blogspot.com):
Es herrscht ein lustiger Sprachenmix zwischen englisch, französisch und kreol
und die Strassen sind so katastrophal wie auf den Seychellen - ein neues
Auto wäre der blanke Horror bei den vielen Schlaglöchern und riesigen fast
unsichtbaren Verkehrsschikanen!

At 1 pm I drove to the airport, this time I first went to Maho Beach to enjoy a delicious grilled lobster at Driftwood (https://www.facebook.com/sxmdriftwood) with the planes landing right above our heads! : ) At 2:30 pm I indeed picked up my second missing suitcase at the airport - now I just have to submit everything to receive compensation!?
In St. Martin or Sint Maarten the time is -6 hours from Central Europe.
The island reminds me a bit of the Seychelles (https://franziskaaeschbach26.blogspot.com):
There is a funny mix of languages between English, French and Creole and the
roads are as catastrophic as in the Seychelles - a new car would be sheer
horror with all the potholes and huge, almost invisible traffic chicanes!
