Als ich
heute Morgen alles gepackt hatte, machte ich mich auf den steilen Weg hinunter
zum Strand für ein Morgenbad - einfach nur herrlich! : )
When I had packed everything this morning, I made my way down the steep path to the beach for a morning swim - just wonderful! : )

Um 11 Uhr
holte mich Davy im La Vue Inn (https://lavueinn.com) ab und fuhr mich und mein
Gepäck nach West End, wo sein Cousin Sherman die James Hughes Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/catman28)
vermietet... Ja, ich hatte Glück etwas Hübsches zu normalen Preisen zu finden!
Es ist noch Neben- und Hurrikansaison hier... ab Dezember werden viele reiche
Touristen erwartet, die es sich in ihren wenigen freien Tagen an nichts fehlen
lassen...
Ich
richtete mich im gemütlichen und gut eingerichteten Apartment mit Sicht auf St. Martin ein bis mich Davy mit einem leckeren Mittagessen überraschte: Fisch, Gemüse, Bananen,
Platanen, Süsskartoffeln und Brotfrucht, dazu frischen Saft von der bengalischen Quitte und Stachelannone.
At 11 Davy picked me up at the La Vue Inn (https://lavueinn.com) and drove me and my luggage to West End, where his cousin Sherman rents out the James Hughes Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/catman28)... Yes, I was lucky to find something nice at a normal price! It is still low and hurricane season here... from December onwards many rich tourists are expected who do not want to miss out on anything in their few days off...
I settled into the cozy and well equipped apartment with a view of St. Martin until Davy surprised me with a delicious lunch: fish, vegetables, bananas, plane trees, sweet potatoes and breadfruit, along with it fresh juice for golden apples and soursop.

Am
Sonntag holte er mich ab um mir seine Insel zu zeigen. Wir fuhren bis
ganz in den Osten auf Strassen in Jammerzuständen! Aber das geht in diesem
heissen trockenen Klima mit heftigen Regengüssen gar nicht anders und ist
überall in der Karibik so, oder sie investieren ständig eine Unmenge!? - Der
Vorteil ist: Rasen ist fast unmöglich! ; )
On Sunday he picked me up to show me his island. We drove all the way to the east on roads in more than terrible conditions! No wonder in this hot dry climate with heavy downpours, and it's like that everywhere in the Caribbean, or they're constantly investing a huge amount!? - The advantage is: speeding is almost impossible! ; )

Davy
kennt die ganze Insel, weil er seine meiste Zeit hier verbracht hat und als
Landschaftsgärtner in allen Hotels arbeitet. Auf der kleinen Insel Silly Cay (
https://scillycay.ai) war er aber noch
nicht... Als wir um 13 Uhr 15 Minuten vergebens gewinkt und gewartet hatten,
fuhren wir weiter und kamen eine Stunde später wieder. Diesmal klappte es für
uns, aber leider nicht für das Paar, das reserviert und vorher mit uns gewartet
hatte. Dafür mussten wir eine geschlagene Stunde auf unser Essen warten - und
wir waren ausser 2, die schon gegessen hatten, die einzigen Gäste! Ja viel
bezahlen, sogar für die kurze Bootsfahrt, lange warten und 0 Service...
Natürlich gab ich mein Feedback an den Besitzer, der nur entgegnete: Seit diesem
Jahr muss man für den Bootstransfer bezahlen, denn er wolle nur noch High Class
Leute... Wenn man es vorauswüsste, könnte man sich wenigstens entscheiden...

Davy knows the whole island because he spent most of his time here and
works as a landscape gardener in all the hotels. But he hasn't been to the
small island of Silly Cay (https://scillycay.ai)
yet... After waving and waiting in vain for 15 minutes at 1 pm, we continued
and came back an hour later. This time it worked for us, but unfortunately not
for the couple who had made a reservation and waited with us before: they had
left. We had to wait a full hour for our food - and we were the only guests
apart from 2 who had already eaten! Yes, paying a lot, even for the short boat
ride, long waiting and 0 service... Of course I gave my feedback to the owner,
who just replied: Since this year you have to pay for the boat transfer,
because he only wants high class people now... If you knew in advance, you
could at least decide...
