Heute Morgen stand eine letzte Runde mit dem Kayak nach Ile Petite Clef und Ile Pinel auf meinem Programm... Einfach nur toll, auch der kurze abkühlende Regenguss! : )
Dann stand mein nächstes Ziel im Visier: Anguilla, eine 30 Minuten Schifffahrt nördlich von St. Martin. Auf dieser Reise möchte ich möglichst alle Inseln der Kleinen Antillen bereisen, die ich noch nicht kenne… Antigua, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Barbados, St. Lucia und St. Vincent habe ich schon besucht und auf den Grossen Antillen (https://franziskaaeschbach14.blogspot.com) war ich 2016 3 Monate unterwegs – viel zu kurz! Es steht also nichts im Wege diese Inseln nochmals zu entdecken… alles verändert sich kontinuierlich…
This morning I went for a last kayak round to Ile Petite Clef and Ile... Just terrific, even the short refreshing shower! : )
My next destination was in sight: Anguilla, a 30-minutes boat ride north of St. Martin. On this trip I intend to visit as many islands of the Lesser Antilles as possible, especially the ones I don't know yet... I have already visited Antigua, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and I spent 3 months in the Greater Antilles (https://franziskaaeschbach14.blogspot.com) in 2016 - far too short! Thus, there is nothing to stop me from discovering these islands again... everything is changing constantly...

Um 12 Uhr war es Zeit mich von Carole, Bruno, Ilios, Era und den wunderschönen Studios St. Martin (https://www.studiostmartin.com) zu verabschieden und mich auf den Weg zum kleinen Hafen in Simpson Bay am andern Ende der Insel zu machen. Unterwegs war die Rum Destillerie Gouverneur 1648 (https://rhumgouverneur.com) endlich einmal offen und ich machte einen kurzen Halt. Vor Marigot kehrte ich in der Bäckerei Lainez (https://www.facebook.com/lainezbakery) ein, wo ich ein spätes Frühstück genoss.
At noon it was time to say goodbye to Carole, Bruno, Ilios, Era and the beautiful Studios St. Martin (https://www.studiostmartin.com) and make my way to the small harbour in Simpson Bay at the other end of the island. On the way, the rum distillery Gouverneur 1648 (https://rhumgouverneur.com) was open for once and I made a short stop. Before arriving Marigot I stopped at the Lainez bakery (https://www.facebook.com/lainezbakery), where I enjoyed a late breakfast.

Um 13:30 Uhr
checkte ich mein Gepäck bei der GB Ferries (https://gbferries.com)
in Simpson Bay ein. Es gibt zwar eine grosse Fähre ab Marigot, die fast
stündlich zwischen St. Martin und Anguilla verkehrt… aber die GB Ferries bietet
Privattransfers von Simpson Bay aus an, direkt neben dem Juliana Flughafen… Und
da es sich auch in der Nähe von Mex Rent a Car (https://mexrentacar.com/en/locations/43-rent-a-car-st-maarten-airport) befindet und sie heute einen Transfer um 15 Uhr
geplant hatten, habe ich mit GB Ferries gebucht!
Nachdem
ich meinen Chevrolet Spark bei Mex Rent a Car retourniert hatte, brachte mich Jim
zur Anguilla Ferry Station. Auch dort wurde der Pass begutachtet und
abgestempelt bevor ich zum Schiff geführt wurde: Kapitän Lyle und seine 3 Offiziere
begrüssten mich als einzigen Passagier! Das war lustig! : )
At 1:30 pm I checked my luggage in at GB Ferries (https://gbferries.com) in Simpson Bay. There is a large ferry from Marigot that runs almost hourly between St. Martin and Anguilla... but GB Ferries offers private transfers from Simpson Bay, right next to Juliana Airport... And since it is also close to Mex Rent a Car (https://mexrentacar.com) and they a transfer was scheduled for 3 pm today, I booked with GB Ferries!
After I had returned my Chevrolet Spark at Mex Rent a Car, Jim dropped me at the Anguilla Ferry Station. There too, my passport was inspected and stamped before I was led to the ship: Captain Lyle and his 3 officers welcomed me as the only passenger! We had a lot of fun! : )

Eine
halbe Stunde später erreichten wir Blowing Point in Anguilla. Nachdem mein Pass
einen weiteren Stempel erhalten hatte, gelangte ich nach draussen, wo Davy auf
mich wartete. Ich erhielt seinen Kontakt von einem seiner Cousins auf St.
Martin… Vielleicht funktioniert es hier wie in Polynesien: Jeder ist der Cousin
des andern!? Davy fuhr mich die kurze Strecke quer über die Insel nach Sandy
Ground, wo ich im La Vue Inn (https://lavueinn.com)
ein Studio für 3 Nächte reserviert hatte… wow… in einem Wort: atemberaubend…
Half an hour later, we reached Blowing Point in Anguilla. After my passport had received another stamp, I went outside where Davy was waiting for me. I got his contact from one of his cousins on St. Martin... Maybe it works here like in Polynesia: Everyone is each other's cousin!? Davy drove me the short distance across the island to Sandy Ground, where I had reserved a studio for 3 nights at La Vue Inn (https://lavueinn.com)... wow… in one word: breathtaking...

Kurz vor
Sonnenuntergang (und der war heute um 17:50 Uhr) holte Davy mich ab und zeigte
mir das Wichtigste in der Gegend… ich kaufte das Nötigste ein, wir machten
einen kurzen Halt beim The Arch und fuhren dann hungrig zum Abendessen ins Tasty's
(https://tastys-anguilla.com).
Unglaublich aber wahr: Wir warteten 45 Minuten auf unser Essen, einen einfach
gegrillten Fisch! Der Preis war auch eine Enttäuschung… denn hier schlagen sie
ebenfalls Taxen drauf, so dass aus USD 32 für einen Red Snapper USD 47 wurden
mit einer Flasche Wasser… Und die Bedienung? Na ja, ziemlich arrogant… : ( - Ja,
man muss vorab fragen, ob zum angeschriebenen Preis noch Taxen kommen, denn es
ist nicht überall gleich! Auch was die Währung betrifft: Eigentlich hat
Anguilla den East Caribbean Dollar (wie viele andere Inseln, zur Zeit 1 USD =
2,6 ECD), aber es scheint als nimmt der US Doller über?

Shortly before sunset (and that was today at 5:50 pm) Davy picked me up
and showed me the most important things in the area... I bought some
essentials, we made a quick stop at The Arch and then drove hungrily to Tasty's
(https://tastys-anguilla.com) for
dinner. Unbelievable but true: We waited 45 minutes for our food, a simple
grilled fish! The price was also a disappointment... because they added taxes,
so that USD 32 for a red snapper became USD 47 with a bottle of water... And
the service? Well, pretty arrogant... : ( - Yes, you have to ask in advance
whether there are additional taxes, because it's different everywhere! As well
as far as currency is concerned: Anguilla actually has the East Caribbean Dollar
(like many other islands, currently 1 USD = 2.6 ECD), but it seems as if the US
dollar is taking over?
