Point ist eine neue Umgebung für mich auf Barbados... meine Freundin Stacey
wohnte vorher in Worthing. Ich kenne Stacey seit 20 Jahren... sie besuchte mich
einige Male in der Schweiz und ich sie jetzt das 8. Mal in Barbados. Dies ist
eigentlich mein 9. Mal auf Barbados – als ich vor 27 Jahren das erste Mal in
der Karibik war (1 Woche Barbados und 1 Woche Antigua), kannte ich Stacey noch
nicht...
Es sind jetzt
aber auch schon wieder 10 Jahre her, seit ich das letzte Mal in Barbados (http://franziskaaeschbach12.blogspot.com)
war... und vieles hat sich verändert seitdem: Es scheint, als sei jetzt das
letzte freie Stück Land verbaut... Barbados zählt inzwischen 300'000 Einwohner
mit einer Grösse von 440 km2.
South Point is a new environment for me in Barbados... my friend Stacey used to live in Worthing. I have known Stacey for 20 years... she visited me a few times in Switzerland and I am visiting her in Barbados for the 8th time. This is actually my 9th time in Barbados - when I was in the Caribbean for the first time 27 years ago (1 week in Barbados and 1 week in Antigua), I didn't know Stacey yet...
But it's been 10 years since I was last in Barbados (http://franziskaaeschbach12.blogspot.com)... and a lot has changed since then: It seems as if the last free pieces of land has now been covered with buildings... Barbados now has 300,000 inhabitants on an area of 440 km2.

Wie immer
erforschte ich meine neue Umgebung neben dem Leuchtturm zuerst mal per
Spaziergang und Jogging... Der Süden der Insel ist zwar bekannt für
Surfsportarten, aber so wuchtig hab ich die Wellen selten gesehen hier - ausser
an der Atlantikküste im Osten! Also nichts mit schwimmen!
Oistins
ist ein Fischerort im Süden, wo es einen Fischmarkt hat und Oistins Fish Fry am
Wochenende den Ort in eine kulinarische Partymeile verwandelt...
As always, I first explored my new surroundings next to the lighthouse by a walk and run... The south of the island is famous for surfing, but I have rarely seen the waves this powerful here - except on the Atlantic coast in the east! Consequently no swimming!
Oistins is a fishing village in the south, where there is a fish market and Oistins Fish Fry turns the place into a culinary party mile on the weekends...

Am
Dienstag machte ich meinen Lieblingsspaziergang hier auf Barbados: Stacey
brachte mich nach Worthing, das ich sehr gut kenne, und ich spazierte alles
barfuss und im Bikini auf dem Strand bis nach Bridgetown. Auch diese Küste hat
sich in den letzten 10 Jahren verändert... jeder Meter am Meer ist besetzt und
verbaut.
On Tuesday I went on my favourite walk here in Barbados: Stacey took me to Worthing, which I know very well, and I walked barefoot and in my bikini all on the beach to Bridgetown. This coast has also changed in the last 10 years... every meter by the sea is occupied and obstructed.

Am folgenden
Tag nahm ich den Dollar Van in die Hauptstadt Bridgetown – der kleine Bus hiess
vor 20 Jahren so, weil eine Fahrt einen Dollar kostet, heute sind es 3.50 Bajan
Dollars (=1.75 USD) für den grossen wie den kleinen Bus. Eine halbe Stunde
später befand ich mich mitten im Kuchen beim kleinen Big Ben! : )

The following day I took the Dollar Van to the capital Bridgetown - the
small bus was called like that 20 years ago because a journey costed one
dollar, today it is 3.50 Bajan Dollars (=1.75 USD) for both the large and small
buses. Half an hour later I was in the middle of the cake at the little Big
Ben! : )
