Als ich vor 5 Tagen hier im Tikaz Toukite (https://www.facebook.com/tikaztoukite.dominica) ankam, war Berenice (Thierrys Freiwillige) der einzige Gast... aber plötzlich war Thierry von 7 Frauen umzingelt! ; ) - Der Schlüssel: Wer mag Thierrys Paradies nicht!? Inmitten intakter üppiger Natur fühlt man sich wohl: Es hat richtiges Wasser von richtigen Flüssen - Thierry hat ein ökologisches Wassersystem kreiert, das immer genug natürliches Trinkwasser und Wasser zum Kochen, Duschen, Waschen und sogar den Jacuzzi liefert! Auf der Insel hat es genug Nahrung für alle, und zwar was die Natur bietet... Damit wir Licht im Dunkeln haben, hat Thierry sogar ein von Solarenergie gespeistes Stromnetz installiert - in all seine 4 Kabanas und Zeitschalter auf seinem ganzen Boot (wie er sein Reich nennt)... Alles wird wiederverwendet, so dienen hundert von Petflaschen als Lampenhüllen. : )

When I arrived at Tikaz Toukite (https://www.facebook.com/tikaztoukite.dominica) 5 days ago, Berenice (Thierry's volunteer) was the only guest... but suddenly Thierry was surrounded by 7 women! ; ) - The key: Who doesn't like Thierry's paradise!? In the middle of intact lush nature, you feel good: There is real water from real rivers - Thierry has created an ecological water system that always provides enough natural drinking water and water for cooking, showering, washing and even the jacuzzi! On the island there is enough food for everyone, namely what nature provides... To have light in the darkness, Thierry has even installed a solar-powered electricity network - in all his 4 cabanas and timers on his whole boat (as he calls his empire)... Everything is reused, consequently a hundred of PET bottles serve as lamp covers. : )

Heute durfte ich mit Pauline & Marie auf eine kleine Reise in den Norden von Dominica gehen... 746 km2 (ca. 19x40 km) scheint zwar auf den ersten Blick klein, aber die Strassen sind sehr kurvenreich und winden sich ins Unendliche. Wir machten viele Stopps und Abstecher auf dem Hinweg, zurück benötigten wir für den direkten Weg von 50 km 1 1/2 Stunde - und das auf super Strassen!

Today Pauline & Marie took me on a little trip to the north of Dominica... 746 km2 (about 19x40 km) may seem small at first glance, but the roads are very curvy and wind endlessly. We made lots of stops and detours on the way, but the 50 km direct way back took us 1 1/2 hours - and that on great roads!

Als wir den 15-minütig Marsch von der kalten Schwefelquelle zurück zum Auto hinter uns hatten, bemerkte Pauline, dass sie den Autoschlüssel verloren hatte... Ich begleitete sie zurück um suchen zu helfen und Marie gab ihrem verletzten Knöchel eine Pause. Als sich Pauline entschuldigte, sagte ich, dass es jedem passieren kann... und es hat sicher einen Grund, den wir noch nicht kennen!? Im schlimmsten Fall müssen wir der Autovermietung telefonieren - aber zuerst fokussierten wir die beste Lösung: den Schlüssel zu finden! Pauline wusste genau, wo er aus ihrer Jackentasche gefallen war, obschon wir nichts gehört hatten - sie lief schnurstracks zur Stelle und nahm den Autoschlüssel in einer Selbstverständlichkeit auf! : )

When we had completed the 15-minute walk from the cold sulphur spring back to the car, Pauline noticed that she had lost the car key... I accompanied her back to help searching and Marie gave her injured ankle a break. When Pauline apologized, I replied that it can happen to anyone... and there's probably a reason we don't know yet!? In the worst-case scenario, we'll have to call the car rental company - but first we'll focus on the best solution: finding the key! Pauline knew exactly where it had fallen out of her jacket pocket, even though we hadn't heard anything - she walked straight to the spot and picked up the car key as if it were the most natural thing in the world! : )

Als wir vom Bwa Nef Wasserfall unseren 20-minütigen Marsch zurück in Angriff nahmen, versperrte ein riesiger Bananenbaum uns den Weg... er war gerade eben auf den Weg gefallen - wir schauten einander an und dachten dasselbe: Stell dir vor, der schwere mit vielen Bananen beladene Baum wäre auf uns gestürzt!?

As we started our 20-minute walk back from the Bwa Nef waterfall, a huge banana tree blocked our way... it had just fallen on the hiking path - we looked at each other and thought the same thing: Imagine if the heavy tree laden with lots of bananas had fallen on us!?

Und der Schlüssel zu allem? - Ruhe bewahren und Energien weise einsetzen... mit dem Vertrauen, dass alles gut kommt und wie es muss... Es hat immer einen Grund und eine Lösung: Das Leben ist eine Herausforderung, die uns in alle Richtungen wachsen lässt... gerade das Unbekannte ist spannend, weil man offen für Neues sein muss - auch für das, was man (noch) nicht weiss! ; )

And the key to everything? - Keep calm and use the energies wisely... with trust that everything will turn out well and as it must... There is always a reason and a solution: Life is a challenge, which makes us grow in all directions... the unknown is particularly exciting because we have to be open to new things - even to what we don't know (yet)! ; )
