Als ich Shawn, den Elektriker von Dennis fragte, ob
er wisse wann morgen die Bequia Express hier auf Union Island ankommt,
entgegnete er mir, dass ich auch mit dem Schulbus am Morgen dorthin fahren könne...
Dieses Boot kommt von der Nachbarinsel Union Island und holt die Schüler um 7
Uhr in Mayreau ab... Ich fand das kein schlechter Plan...
Kurz vor 7 Uhr holte mich Shawn im Dennis’ Hideaway (+1 784
492 4417) ab und fuhr mich zum Hafen. Der
Wind war noch stets stark und die Wellen hoch, das Schulboot verliess Union
Island erst um 7:15 Uhr. Eine Viertelstunde später sassen die Schulkinder, eine
Lehrerin und ich auf dem Boot und wir fuhren Richtung Union Island, die letzte
der Grenadine Inseln.
When I asked Shawn, Dennis's electrician, if he knew when the Bequia Express would arrive here on Union Island tomorrow, he told me that I could also take the school bus in the morning... This boat comes from the neighbouring island Union Island and picks up the students in Mayreau at 7 am… I thought that this was not a bad plan all...
Shortly before 7 am, Shawn picked me up at Dennis’ Hideaway (+1 784 492 4417) and drove me to the harbour. The wind was very still strong and the waves high; the school boat didn't leave Union Island until 7:15 am. A quarter of an hour later the school children, a teacher and I were sitting in the boat and we were heading towards Union Island, the last of the Grenadine Islands.

In Union Island hatte ich eine Unterkunft via
Booking.com (https://www.booking.com) gebucht. Ich wurde von einem Freund von crazy Andy zum Backstreet BNB (https://www.booking.com/hotel/vc/backstreet-bnb.de.html) transportiert, wo mich Margaret
herzlich willkommen hiess. Sie zeigte mir mein hübsches Apartment und ich
fühlte mich so erleichtert, einfach irgendwo ein Zuhause zu haben, wo alles
funktioniert... Margaret ist eine Power Lady per excellence und sie backt jeden
Tag frisches Brot – ich bin am richtigen Ort! : )
In Union Island, I had booked an accommodation via Booking.com (https://www.booking.com). A friend of crazy Andy took me to the Backstreet BNB (https://www.booking.com/hotel/vc/backstreet-bnb.de.html), where Margaret gave me a warm welcome. She showed me my lovely apartment and I felt so relieved to just have a home somewhere where everything works... Margaret is a power lady par excellence and she bakes fresh bread every day - I'm in the right place! : )

Ich durfte die Waschmaschine benutzen, richtete
mich für ein paar Tage ein und los ging es: Ich wanderte die Nordküste von
Union Island von Ost nach West - wow, trotz extrem grosser Hurrikanverwüstung! Und wieder einmal sprechen
Bilder mehr als Worte...

I was
allowed to use the washing machine, settled in for a few days and off I went: I
hiked the north coast of Union Island from east to west - wow, despite the
extreme hurricane devastation! And once again, pictures speak louder than
words...
