Für heute Morgen hatte Froggie (https://www.facebook.com/CarriacouBoatTours) meinen Transfer von Union Island, St. Vincent & die Grandienen, nach Carriacou, Grenada, organisiert. Eigentlich haben wir es eine Woche früher geplant, aber die starken Winde liess uns unsere Pläne immer wieder anpassen… Um 9 Uhr war es Zeit mich von Margaret und ihr Backstreet BNB (https://www.booking.com/hotel/vc/backstreet-bnb.de.html) zu verabschieden. Ich wurde ich von einem Taxi abgeholt, dass mich mit meinem Gepäck zum Einwanderungsbüro in Clifton fuhr. Mein Pass wurde abgestempelt und der Fahrer fuhr mich zum Hafen in Ashton. Dort machte Bradly gerade sein Boot klar für die Überfahrt.

Froggie (https://www.facebook.com/CarriacouBoatTours) had organized my transfer from Union Island, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, to Carriacou, Grenada, for this morning. We had actually planned it a week earlier, but the strong winds forced us to keep changing our plans... At 9 am it was time to say goodbye to Margaret and her Backstreet BNB (https://www.booking.com/hotel/vc/backstreet-bnb.de.html). I was picked up by a taxi that took me and my luggage to the immigration office in Clifton. My passport was stamped and the driver drove me to the port in Ashton. There Bradly was just getting his boat ready for the crossing.

Eine halbe Stunde später empfing mich Froggie in Hillsborough, ich hatte ihn in einer meiner vielen Recherchen über Transporte in den kleinen Antillen gefunden. In Carriacou mussten wir zuerst auf die Einwanderungsbehörde um den Pass abstempeln zu lassen und dann fuhr er mich zu meiner Unterkunft John Unique (+1 473-443-8346). Mein Studio war noch nicht bereit, so machten wir uns auf ganz in den Norden an die Ostküste nach Windward, ein Ort mit schottischen Einwanderern. Auch Froggie stammt von Schotten ab - mit einer Mischung von Indern! : )

Half an hour later Froggie met me in Hillsborough; I had found him in one of my many researches on transport in the Lesser Antilles. In Carriacou we first had to go to the immigration office to get my passports stamped and then he drove me to my accommodation John Unique (+1 473-443-8346). My studio wasn't ready yet, so we headed all the way north to the east coast to Windward, a place with Scottish immigrants. Froggie is also of Scottish descent - with a mix of Indians! : )

Ich war nicht ganz glücklich, als ich mein vermeintes Appartement im John Unique bezog: Es war ein Zimmer, kein Apartment. Die nette Mishka stellte mir aber eine Herdplatte ins Zimmer…

Nach einem erfrischenden Bad am Strand unternahm ich schlendernd eine Entdeckungstour durch den Hauptort Hillsborough und genoss ein leckeres Essen im Traps (https://carriacou.biz/business/traps). Ich war bereit für eine Dusche und früh ins Bett. Doch im Nachbarzimmer wurde gebohrt und ich hatte kein Wasser. Ich verstehe die Probleme, die die Menschen hier haben nach dem Hurrikan, aber ich war todmüde und wollte einfach nur schlafen... Einer der Arbeiter brachte mir einen Eimer mit Wasser, so dass ich mir wenigstens meine Zähne putzen und eine Katzenwäsche vollziehen konnte um dann endlich ins Bett zu kriechen - schliesslich war ich seit 5 Uhr heute Morgen auf den Beinen!

I wasn't entirely happy when I moved into what I thought was my apartment in John Unique: It was a room, not an apartment. But the nice Mishka put a hotplate in my room...

After a refreshing swim on the beach, I strolled through the main town of Hillsborough and enjoyed a delicious meal at Traps (https://carriacou.biz/business/traps). I was ready for a shower and an early night. But there was drilling going on in the next room and I had no water. I understand the problems people are having here after the hurricane, but I was dead tired and just wanted to sleep... One of the workers brought me a bucket of water so I could at least brush my teeth and have a quick wash and then finally crawl into bed - after all, I had been up since 5 am this morning!
