Hier auf Grenada ist es wie auf allen Karibikinseln:
Wenn ein Kreuzfahrtschiff (oder sogar 2 oder 3!) im Hafen steht, ist die Insel
überfüllt… Die Tagestouristen liegen in 5 Reihen am langen Grand Anse… es gibt
noch mehr Busse, die noch mehr Leute transportieren… und die Sehenswürdigkeiten?
– Ich habe gelernt im Rhythmus der Kreuzfahrtschiffe zu gehen, nur umgekehrt als
die Inselbewohner: Ich bin unterwegs, wenn keines da ist, und nehme es
gemütlich, wenn ein grosses oder mehrere den Hafen belagern! Niemand konnte mir mit Gewissheit sagen, ob
und wann Kreuzfahrtschiffe auf Grenada Halt machen… aber schliesslich habe ich im
Ocean View Apartments (+1-473-449-6507) den Überblick!

Here on Grenada it is like on all Caribbean islands: If there is a cruise ship (or even 2 or 3!) in port, the island is overcrowded... The day tourists are horizontal lined up in 5 rows on the long Grand Anse... there are even more buses transporting even more people... and sightseeing? - I have learned to walk to the rhythm of the cruise ships, just the opposite as the islanders do: I am out and about when there is none, and I take it easy if a large one or several are besieging the port! No one could tell me with certainty if and when cruise ships stop in Grenada... but finally I have an overview at the Ocean View Apartments (+1-473-449-6507)! ; )

Folglich machte ich meine Tagespläne nicht nur nach
dem Wetter, sondern auch nach den Kreuzfahrschiffen. Am Samstag war bis 9 Uhr
keines in Sicht und ich hatte mich bereits entschieden einige Wasserfälle im
Innern der Insel zu besuchen. Es war dann doch plötzlich ein kleines
Kreuzfahrtschiff im Hafen als ich durch St. George’s fuhr, aber nun war ich
schon auf dem Weg… Ich wanderte, machte Autostopp oder nahm den nächsten Bus
und kam zügig voran. Bereits nach einer Stunde um 10:30 Uhr stand ich vor den
Annandale Fällen! : )
As a result, I made my daily plans not only based on the weather, but also on the cruise ships. On Saturday there was no cruise ship in sight until 9 am and I had already decided to visit some waterfalls in the interior of the island. There was a small cruise ship in the harbour as I drove through St. George's, but now I was already on my way... I hiked, hitchhiked or took the next bus and made good progress. After just an hour at 10:30 am I was standing in front of the Annandale Falls! : )

Zu den 7 Sister Falls war es etwas schwieriger, denn der 2-stündige
Wanderweg (hin und zurück) war matschig und glitschig – nach den Fällen der
Kreuzfahrtschiffe und der Wasser kam ein weiterer echter hinzu: Ich fiel und
verletzte meine linke Fusssohle an einem spitzigen Stein! : ( Es schmerzte
dermassen, dass ich mich entschloss die Wunde gar nicht erst anzuschauen…
The 7 Sister Falls were a bit more difficult because the 2-hour hiking trail (return) was muddy and slippery: I fell and injured the sole of my left foot on a sharp stone! : ( It hurt so much that I decided not to even look at the wound...

Am Sonntag hatte ich eigentlich einen Ruhetag
geplant, aber da bis 12 Uhr einfach kein Kreuzfahrtschiff kommen wollte, änderte
ich meine Pläne und nahm die Gelegenheit um einen weiteren Wasserfall zu
besuchen: die Concord Fälle, ebenfalls in Landesinnern, nur etwas weiter
nördlich. Bisher funktionierte Autostopp hier auf Grenada super… heute war ich
darauf angewiesen, denn ich bemerkte schnell: Sonntag = keine Busse!
Das Glück blieb mir hold und ich schaffte es zu den
Concord Wasserfällen in 1 ½ Stunden mit 4 netten Autofahrern! : ) Dave und Tia
fuhren mich sogar das Tal hinauf und verweilten ebenfalls dort – der ideale
Sonntagsplan ohne Touristen! : ) Zurück war ich in einer Rekordzeit von 1
Stunde inklusive Umweg und zwar bis vor die Tür! : ))

I had
actually planned a peaceful and relaxing day on Sunday, but since no cruise
ship wanted to come until noon, I changed my plans and took the opportunity to
visit another waterfall: the Concord Falls, also inland, just a little further direction
north. Hitchhiking has worked out great here on Grenada so far... today I had
to rely on it, because I quickly noticed: Sunday = no buses!
I was
lucky and made it to the Concord Falls in 1 ½ hours with 4 nice drivers! : )
Dave and Tia even drove me up the valley and stayed at the falls also - the
ideal Sunday plan without tourists! : ) I was back in a record time of 1 hour
including a detour, delivered right to the door! : ))
