Bus und Taxifahren macht zwar Spass hier auf Tobago, aber die Fahrzeiten sind ziemlich lang um von einem zum anderen Ort zu kommen. Alles, was auf diese Weise möglich war, hatte ich bereits unternommen, so stand nun die Erkundung des Restes der 44 x 12 km kleinen Insel mit einem Mietwagen an... Ich hatte bei K's Auto Rental (kerwinbiggart40@gmail.com) ein Auto für zwei Tage reserviert, das ich um 10 Uhr abholen ging. Kemani nahm einen Tag frei, um mich zu begleiten. Nach den Formalitäten machten wir uns auf Richtung Norden.

Taking the bus and taxis is fun here in Tobago, but the travel times are quite long to get from one place to another. I had already done everything possible this way, so now it was time to explore the rest of the small 44 x 12 km island by car. I had reserved a car for two days with K's Auto Rental (kerwinbiggart40@gmail.com), which I went to pick up at 10 am. Kemani took a day off to accompany me. After the formalities, we headed north.

Regenwald / rain forest, L'Anse Fourmi - Charlotteville - Roxborough - L'Anse Fourmi

In L'Anse Fourmi (wo ich bereits mit dem Bus war) zeigte mir Kemani sein Grundstück, wo er wohnt sowie Obst und Gemüse anbaut. Von dort ging es ganz in den Norden nach Charlotteville. Die Regenwolken verdeckten langsam den Himmel und wir machten uns der Nordostküste und im Regen dem Regenwald entlang nach L'Anse Fourmi. Ich lud Kemani bei ihm zuhause ab und nahm den Rest in Angriff der heute total gefahrene 90 km - auf meist steilen und kurvenreichen Strassen in einem sehr bequemen Aqua Hybrid! : )

In L'Anse Fourmi (where I had already been by bus), Kemani showed me his property, where he lives and grows fruit and vegetables. From there, we headed all the way north to Charlotteville. The rain clouds slowly obscured the sky and we drove along the northeast coast and in the rain through the rainforest to L'Anse Fourmi. I dropped Kemani off at his house and tackled the rest of the 90 km I'd driven today - on mostly steep and winding roads in a very comfortable Aqua Hybrid! : )

Am nächsten Tag hatte ich eine Umrundung der ganzen Insel vor. Diesmal begann ich im Regenwald mit einer stündigen Wanderung (retour) zum silbernen und goldenen Wasserfall der Yellowstone Fälle. Am Morgen beim Verlassen meiner Wohnung hatte ich meinen Fuss geknickt, der aber in Ordnung zu sein schien. Jedoch nach der stündigen Wanderung schwoll er an und der Schmerz war nicht mehr auszuhalten... ich hatte Angst, er sei gebrochen... aber diese Option wollte ich nicht mal in Betracht ziehen! Zum Glück hatte ich einen Automaten, so konnte ich im Yoga Sitz mit dem linken Fuss hoch gelagert meine Runde von 100 km um Tobago weiterfahren...

The next day, I planned to circumnavigate the entire island. This time, I started in the rainforest with a 1 hour hike (return) to the Silver and Golden Falls of Yellowstone Waterfalls. That morning, when I left my apartment, I had twisted my foot, which seemed to be fine. However, after the hour-long hike, it swelled up and the pain was unbearable... I was afraid it was broken... but did not want to take this as an option! Luckily, I had a automatic, so I could continue my 100 km loop around Tobago in a yoga position with my left foot elevated...

Bei den Argyle Wasserfällen war ich nicht fähig meinen linken Fuss zu belasten, so blieb mir nichts anderes übrig, als diese Fälle von meiner Liste zu streichen. Ich beschloss hingegen einen Strand zu suchen, wo ich mein Bein für mindestens 1 Stunde hochlagern kann um dann weiter zu sehen... Die Südküste Tobagos ist nicht besonders spektakulär, so fuhr ich weiter bis in die Südspitze nach Crown Point, wo ich meinen Platz fand! : )

At the Argyle Falls, I wasn't able to put any weight on my left foot, consequently I had no choice but to cross those falls off my list. Instead I decided to find a beach, where I could rest my leg for at least an hour and to see further... The south coast of Tobago isn't particularly spectacular, so I continued on to the southern tip of Crown Point, where I found my spot! : )
