Am
Mittwochmorgen durfte ich mit Joshua vom Castara Bliss (+1-868-352 5727) bis nach Crown Point fahren, er arbeitet
momentan dort. Es dauerte eine ganze Stunde, bis wir im Südwestzipfel Tobagos
ankamen. Ich schlenderte durch den Ort und nahm im Store Bay ein Morgenbad. Dann
ging es auf dem Strand der Swallow's Bay entlang bis zum Pigeon Point – einfach
nur ein Traum: Karibik pur! : )
On Wednesday morning, Joshua of Castara Bliss (+1-868-352 5727) took me to Crown Point, where he currently works. It took a whole hour until we arrived at the southwestern tip of Tobago. I strolled through town and took a morning swim in Store Bay. Then I continued on the beach along Swallow's Bay to Pigeon Point – simply a dream: Caribbean pure! : )

Von
Pigeon Point wollte ich nach Buccoo gelangen, aber ich bemerkte schon bald,
dass die Busse hier eher selten passieren. Es gibt sogar richtige Fahrpläne!
Dann versuchte ich es halt per Autostopp - das wird doch hier wohl auch
funktionieren!? Und ja, eine nette Lady, die ihre Tochter von der Schule holte,
nahm mich ein ganzes Stück mit. Von dort versuchte ich es erneut und bald stieg
ich ins nächste Auto ein. Der Fahrer gab mir zu verstehen, dass auf Tobago
jedes Auto ein Taxi ist und der Anhalter einen Anteil an die Fahrt bezahlt...
Aha!?
In Buccoo
schlenderte ich Buccoo und Courtland Bay entlang inklusive einer Badepause,
bevor ich mich zurück nach Castara machte. Wieder war kein Bus weit und breit
zu erkennen, so dass ich, wie gewohnt, meinen Daumen rausstreckte... Schon bald
sass ich in einem Privattaxi, das mich vor die Tür des vom Castara Bliss auslud
– und natürlich bezahlte ich meinen Anteil, der sehr fair war und die Idee
finde ich gut: Es gibt schon zu viele Autos, auch hier auf Tobago!

Pigeon Point, I wanted to get to Buccoo, but I soon noticed that buses are
rather infrequent here. There are even proper timetables! Consequently, I tried
hitchhiking – surely that would work here too!? And yes, a nice lady picking up
her daughter from school gave me a ride for quite a stretch. From there, I
tried again and soon got into the next car. This driver explained to me that in
Tobago, every car is a taxi, and the hitchhiker pays a portion of the fare...
Aha!?
In
Buccoo, I strolled along Buccoo and Courtland Bay, including a swim break,
before heading back to Castara. Again, there was no bus in sight, so I stuck
out my thumb, as usual... Soon, I was sitting in a private taxi, that dropped
me off at the door of the Castara Bliss – and of course I paid my share, which
was very fair and I found the idea brilliant: There are already too many cars,
also on Tobago!
