Da meine Makana Fähre (https://makanaferryservice.com) erst um 16:20 Uhr nach St. Kitts fahren würde, hatte ich noch fast den ganzen Tag Zeit etwas zu unternehmen... Wo war ich noch nicht auf der 21 km² kleinen Insel Statia? - Fort de Windt bei der weissen Wand White Wall, ideal für einen Morgenspaziergang in meinem Pyjama.

As the Makana ferry (https://makanaferryservice.com) would not leave for St. Kitts until 4:20 pm, I still had almost the whole day to do something... Where haven't I been on the 21 km² small island of Statia? - Fort de Windt near the White Wall, ideal for a morning walk... in my pyjamas.

3 nette Damen nehmen mich mit - welche fährt? / 3 lovely ladies give me a lift - who of them drives?

Am Mittag fuhr mich Toni in die Nähe des Flughafens, von wo mich eine nette Lady zum Zeelandia Strand fuhr - eigentlich der einzige Strand Statias, aber viel zu gefährlich um zu baden... so wanderte ich eine halbe Stunde über den nächsten Hügel um die Venus Bay wenigstens von weitem zu sehen - mein Bungalow in der Statia Lodge (https://www.statialodge.com) heisst so... Auf dem Rückweg luden mich 3 Ladies auf, die holländisch sprachen. Es waren 3 Generationen und die Älteste fuhr! Etwas langsam und mitten auf der Strasse, aber wir kamen gut an und hatten viel Spass! : )

At noon, Toni drove me near the airport, from where a nice lady drove me to Zeelandia Beach - actually the only beach in Statia, but far too dangerous to swim... so I hiked for half an hour over the next hill to at least see Venus Bay from a distance - my bungalow in the Statia Lodge (https://www.statialodge.com) is called like that... On the way back, 3 ladies who spoke Dutch picked me up. They were 3 generations and the oldest was driving! A bit slow and in the middle of the road, but we arrived safely and had a lot of fun! : )

Um 15 Uhr war es dann Zeit für meine Weiterreise. Toni brachte mich zum Hafen, wo es nur wartende Passagiere hatte aber niemand im geschlossenen Makana Büro... Die verantwortliche Person sei die Passagierliste holen... und es war so heiss ohne Sitzmöglichkeiten und spärlich Schatten. Dann aber ging plötzlich alles schnell und wie verliessen den Hafen von Oranjestad in Statia pünktlich um 16:20!

Wir kamen zwar pünktlich nach einer knappen Stunde Fahrt in Basseterre, St. Kitts an, aber ich benötigte 1 geschlagene Stunde um durch die Einwanderungs- und Zollabfertigung zu gelangen! Es war vielleicht nicht nur, dass ich nicht wusste, dass ich meine Ankunft on-line registrieren und ein Flug ab St Kitts buchen musste... nein, es waren nur gerade 2 aber sehr nette Damen am Einreiseschalter, und die nahmen es ganz genau! So musste ich mich nachtäglich on-line anmelden und einen Flug buchen - eine Unterkunftsbestätigung hatte ich zum Glück bereits! - Ich hab mich zwar im Internet informiert, aber vielleicht nicht am richtigen Ort? Und alles verändert sich kontinuierlich! Nun weiss ich es und werde mir diese Probleme ersparen, die ich schon in Neuseeland & Polynesien (https://franziskaaeschbach17.blogspot.com) hatte... und etwas mehr vorausplanen.

At 3 pm it was time to continue my journey. Toni took me to the port, where there were only waiting passengers but no one in the closed Makana office... The person in charge had to get the passenger list... and it was so hot with no places to sit and only little shade. But then everything suddenly happened quickly and we left the port of Oranjestad in Statia on time at 4:20 pm!

We arrived in Basseterre, St. Kitts on time after just under an hour's drive, but it took me a full hour to get through immigration and customs clearance! Maybe it wasn't just that I didn't know that I had to register my arrival online and book a flight out of St. Kitts... no, there were only 2 bur very nice ladies at the immigration desk, and they took it very seriously! Consequently, I had to register online and book a flight - luckily I already had confirmation of accommodation! - I had been searching the net for information, but maybe not in the right site? And everything is constantly changing too! But now I know and will prevent myself from problems, which I already had in New Zealand & Polynesia (https://franziskaaeschbach17.blogspot.com)... and plan a little more ahead.

Beim Zoll nahmen die 3 Angestellte es ebenfalls sehr genau und untersuchten jede Person und jedes Gepäckstück seeehr gründlich! Das Ganze dauerte 1 Stunde, ich war ja auch nicht der einzige Passagier. Nun musste ich schauen, wie ich zum Timothy Beach Resort (https://www.timothybeach.com) kam... kein Taxi war weit und breit... aber Ken mit einer Makana Jacke, der mir offerierte mich die 6 km zum Resort zu fahren, natürlich zum Taxipreis. Unterwegs kaufte ich das Wichtigste ein, Ken brachte etwas zum Markt und dann endlich um 19 Uhr nahm ich mein hübsches Apartment für die nächste Woche in Empfang! Ich nahm alles aus meinem Gepäck und richtete mich erst mal so richtig ein… : )

At customs, the 3 employees were also very meticulous and examined every person and every piece of luggage very thoroughly! The whole procedure took an hour, and I wasn't the only passenger! Now I had to figure out how to get to the Timothy Beach Resort (https://www.timothybeach.com)... there was no taxi anywhere in sight... but Ken with a Makana jacket, who offered to drive me the 6 km to the resort, for the price of a taxi of course. On the way, I bought the most important things, Ken took something to the market and then finally at 7 pm I checked into my lovely apartment for the next week! I took everything out of my bags and suitcases and got myself settled in properly... : )
