endlich wieder mal fliegen! Ich hoffe die Flugzeuge sind pünktlicher als die
Fähren hier auf den Kleinen Antillen!? Und ich hoffe es klappt mit meinem
Gepäck... denn bei der Einreise in St. Kitts musste ich einen Rück- oder
Weiterflug vorweisen, was ich nicht hatte... so habe ich auf die Schnelle einen
Flug nach Antigua gebucht aber nicht gesehen, dass es ohne Gepäck ist...
Um 12
holte mich Ali (+1-869-6698621) im Timothy Beach Resort (https://www.timothybeach.com) ab, half mir mit meinem Gepäck und brachte mich zum Flughafen.
Das mit dem Gepäck war gar kein Problem am Caribbean Airways (https://www.caribbean-airlines.com)
Schalter und günstiger als online! : ) Und was die Pünktlichkeit betrifft: Wir
flogen 15 Minuten vor Flugplan ab und da der Flug nach Antigua nur 17 Minuten
beträgt, landeten wir 1/2 Stunde vor der offiziellen Ankunftszeit! : )
Yes, finally flying once again! I hope the planes are more punctual than the ferries here in the Lesser Antilles!? And I hope it works out with my luggage... because when I entered St. Kitts, I had to present a return or onward flight, which I didn't have... so I quickly booked a flight to Antigua but didn't see that it was without luggage...
Ali (+1-869-6698621) picked me up at noon at theTimothy Beach Resort (https://www.timothybeach.com) , helped me with my luggage and took me to the airport. The luggage was no problem at all at the Caribbean Airways (https://www.caribbean-airlines.com) counter and cheaper than online! : ) And as far as punctuality goes: We took off 15 minutes before flight schedule and since the flight to Antigua takes only 17 minutes, we landed 1/2 hour before official arrival time! : )

Auch die
Abfertigung in Antigua dauerte nur ein Bruchteil von den anderen Inseln besucht
bisher... Und schon stand ich draussen, wo mich die liebenswerte Charlene von
Buzz Car Rental (https://buzzcarrentalantigua.com)
empfing. Ich erhielt einen fast neuen meiner Lieblingsmietwagen: Kia Picanto
mit 5000 Meilen (8000 km) – hier auf Antigua fährt man übrigens auf der linken
Seite...
Auf dem
Weg nach Five Islands machte ich einen Halt zum Einkaufen und fuhr dann ein
Stück der Küste entlang bis ich 1/2 Stunde später die Galley Bay Cottages (https://galleybaycottages.com)
erreichte. Michela empfing mich herzlich, führte mich zu meinem wunderschönen
Cottage und erklärte mir das Wichtigste. - Ich bin froh, hab ich ein Auto
gemietet, denn das nächste Restaurant befindet sich 15 Minuten und
Einkaufsmöglichkeiten mehr als 30 Minuten zu Fuss entfernt!
Immigration in Antigua also took only a fraction of the time on the other islands I have visited so far... And then I was already standing outside, where lovely Charlene from Buzz Car Rental (https://buzzcarrentalantigua.com) was awaiting me. I received one of my favourite rental cars: a Kia Picanto, almost new with 5000 miles (8000 km) - by the way, you drive on the left here on Antigua...
On the way to Five Islands I stopped for some shopping and then drove a bit along the coast until I reached Galley Bay Cottages (https://galleybaycottages.com) half an hour later. Michela welcomed me warmly, led me to my beautiful cottage and explained the most important things to me. - I'm glad I rented a car, because the nearest restaurant is 15 minutes away and shops are more than 30 minutes away on foot!

Am Abend
nahm ich aber trotzdem die 15 Minuten zu Fuss ins Dorf Five Islands um etwas
essen zu gehen: Es hat 3 Restaurants... eines hab ich nicht gefunden und eines
war schon zu um 18 Uhr... so blieb mir glücklicherweise das Croissants (https://www.facebook.com/croissantsanu268),
wo ich hungrig einen leckeren Butterfisch verdrückte.
Übrigens
war ich 1997 das erste und letzte Mal in Antigua... und auch das 1. Mal in der
Karibik überhaupt: 1 Woche Barbados und 1 Woche Antigua... An alles, was ich
mich vor 27 Jahren erinnern kann, ist dass meine Tochter Melanie nach dem Flug
Barbados – Antigua höllische Ohrenschmerzen hatte und ich in der Nacht eine
Notapotheke finden musste, was nur gelang, weil ich einem freundlichen Mann
vertraute und ihm ins Auto stieg...

In the evening, I still took the 15-minute walk to Five Islands Village
to get something to eat: There are 3 restaurants... I couldn't find one and one
was already closed at 6 pm... so luckily there was Croissants (https://www.facebook.com/croissantsanu268),
where I hungrily ate a delicious butterfish.
Incidentally, 1997 was the first and last time I was in Antigua... and
also the first time I visited the Caribbean: 1 week in Barbados and 1 week in
Antigua... All I can remember from 27 years ago is, that my daughter Melanie
had terrible earache after the flight from Barbados to Antigua and I had to
find an emergency pharmacy that night, which only worked because I trusted a
friendly man and got into his car...
