Heute hatte ich noch fast den ganzen Tag im Timeaway Beach Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/Tawaybeach) zur Verfügung, bis ich um 14:30 Uhr mit Charlene von Buzz Car Rental (https://buzzcarrentalantigua.com) am Flughafen abgemacht hatte und weiter nach Montserrat fliegen würde... also gleich mal los zu Fuss im die Ecke zum Dickinson Bay für ein letztes herrliches Bad! : )

Today I had almost the whole day at the Timeaway Beach Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/Tawaybeach) until I had arranged to meet Charlene from Buzz Car Rental (https://buzzcarrentalantigua.com) at the airport at 2:30 pm and would fly on to Montserrat... so I directly set off on foot around the corner to Dickinson Bay for one last wonderful swim! : )

Ich durfte 3 Taschen bei meinem Nachbar Richard lassen, während ich für 5 Tage Montserrat entdecken werde. Seit den verheerenden Vulkanexplosionen 1995/96 wird die Insel langsam wieder bewohnbar und befahrbar gemacht... Fly Montserrat (https://www.flymontserrat.com) ab Antigua ist die einzige Möglichkeit nach Montserrat zu gelangen - auf dem neu erbauten Flughafen am andern Ende des Vulkan Soufriere, der momentan wenig Aktivität zeigt. Und weil kleine Britten-Norman Islander die Passagiere befördern, ist das Gepäck limitiert...

Beim Einchecken musste ich samt meinem Handgepäck auf die Waage. Und als Garreth, unser Pilot, uns 7 Passagiere begrüsste und einen Freiwilligen suchte, der vorne sitzt, war ich gleich zur Stelle... leider dauerte der Flug nur gerade 15 Minuten! : )

I could leave 3 bags with my neighbour Richard while I explore Montserrat for 5 days. Since the devastating volcanic explosions in 1995/96, the island is slowly being made habitable and navigable... Fly Montserrat (https://www.flymontserrat.com) from Antigua is the only way to get to Montserrat - to the newly built airport at the other end of the Soufriere volcano, which is currently showing little activity. And because small Britten-Norman Islanders carry the passengers, luggage is limited...

When checking in, I had to step on the scales with my hand luggage. And when Garreth, our pilot, welcomed us 7 passengers and looked for a volunteer to sit in the front, I was there right away... unfortunately the flight took but 15 minutes! : )

In Montserrat hatte Gracelyn des Frangipani Studio (https://www.visitmontserrat.com/bed-breakfast-and-guesthouses) mir ein Taxi organisiert, das mich abholte. Ich war der erste Passagier, der den kleinen Flughafen verliess, da ich mich online registriert hatte! Wir warteten noch auf einen weiteren Gast und dann ging es los 30 Minuten auf kurvenreichen Strassen nach Woodlands. Als ich Daly fragte, ob der Preis für die Fahrt nun geteilt wird, sagte dieser: Nein, der Preis ist pro Person! - Ich fragte den kanadischen Gast, ob er schon mal sowas gehört hat... und er bestätigte, dass normalerweise ein Taxi den Preis für die Fahrt verlangt… Vielleicht haben (ex-)Polizisten wirklich Privilegien auf dieser Welt!?

In Montserrat, Gracelyn from Frangipani Studio (https://www.visitmontserrat.com/bed-breakfast-and-guesthouses) had organized a taxi to pick me up. I was the first passenger to leave the small airport because I had registered online! We waited for another guest and then we set off on a 30-minute drive on winding roads to Woodlands. When I asked Daly if the price for the trip would be split, he said: No, the price is per person! - I asked the Canadian guest if he had ever heard of such a thing... and he confirmed that normally a taxi charges the price of the ride... Maybe (ex-)police officers really do have privileges in this world!?
