Eigentlich wollte ich auf St. Kitts ein Auto mieten… aber alle waren für
diese Woche ausgebucht wegen einer Versammlung der Ross Universität… so
versuchte ich es per Autostopp, auch mit meinen Einkäufen – und ich musste nie
lange warten, bis mich ein freundlicher Mensch auflud und mich meist bis zum Timothy
Beach Resort (https://www.timothybeach.com) fuhr! :
) Andere Alternativen zu einem Auto sind der lokale Bus (der mit einem H im
Nummernschild beginnt), ein Zug (Tour und Panoramafahrt) oder ein Fahrrad?
I actually intended to rent a car on St. Kitts... but they were all fully booked for the week because of a meeting at Ross University... thus I tried hitchhiking, including my shopping bags - and I never had to wait long until a friendly person picked me up and usually drove me to Timothy Beach Resort (https://www.timothybeach.com)! : ) Other alternatives to a car are the local bus (which starts with an H in the license plate), a train (scenic railway tour) or a bike?

halt zu Fuss! - Am Donnerstag joggte ich Richtung Süden auf der Südost
Halbinsel über den Timothy Hügel runter zum North Friar’s Bay. Es war fast
unmöglich auf dem Strand zu joggen, denn man sank tief ein! Dafür brüten hier
viele Vögel und Schildkröten…
Or just walk! - On Thursday I went for a run south on the southeast peninsula over the Timothy Hill and down to North Friar's Bay. It was almost impossible to run on the beach because I sank deep into it! But there are lots of birds and turtles nesting here...

Für
Freitag hatte ich ein Fahrrad gefunden und das ganz in der Nähe: In der Vibes
Beach Bar (https://vibesbeachbar.com) an
unserem Frigate Strand! : ) So fuhr ich 1 ½ Stunden schweisstreibend bergauf
und runter bis zur Cockleshell Bay. Dann zum Fährhafen, wo ausser ein paar
Fischer niemand war… Und ich dachte, vielleicht treffe ich einen Pickup Fahrer,
der mich ein Stück mit Richtung Norden nimmt? – Nach einer Viertelstunde Strampeln
bevor die ersten 125 m bezwungen werden mussten, hielt ich meinen Daumen raus
als ein Pickup sich näherte: Volltreffer! Der nette junge Mann hob mein Fahrrad
auf die Ladefläche und ich kletterte ins Auto! : )

I had found a bike for Friday and it was very close by: At the Vibes
Beach Bar (https://vibesbeachbar.com)
on our Frigate Beach! : ) Consequently I rode up and down for 1 ½ hours,
sweating hard, to Cockleshell Bay. Then to the ferry port, where there was
nobody except a few fishermen... and I thought, maybe I'd meet a pickup truck
driver who would give me a lift direction north? - After a quarter of an hour
of pedaling before having to conquer the first 125 m, I stuck out my thumb as a
pickup truck approached: direct hit! The nice young man lifted my bike onto the
loading area and I climbed into the car! : )
