There are wonderful beaches around Rodney Bay, where you even can swim! One day I went for a run to Reduit Beach and the next day to Pigeon Island Beach...

Es ist schade, dass die wunderschöne Insel St. Lucia kein Recyclingprogramm hat - das fängt bei der Erziehung an: Sensibilisierung der Bevölkerung! Wenn jeder weiss, was mit unserem Abfall passiert und dass organischer Abfall als wertvollen Kompost wiederverwendet werden kann, ich bin sicher: die Leute wählen anders beim Einkaufen! Und es würde sicherlich die Haufen von entledigtem Müll überall verringern!?

It's a shame that the beautiful island of St. Lucia doesn't have a recycling programme - it starts with education: raising awareness among the population! If everyone knew what happens to our waste and that organic waste can be reused as valuable compost, I'm sure people would choose differently when shopping! And it would certainly reduce the piles of discarded garbage everywhere!?

Am Donnerstag hatte ich vor den Mount Pimard (750 m) zu erklimmen - von dort hat man eine fantastische Aussicht... Aber das Schicksal wollte es anders und bescherte mir einen Strandtag! Denn eine Neukonstruktion verhindert den Zugang zum Wanderweg… Ich weiss nicht wann ich das letzte Mal 4 Stunden mit Faulenzen am Strand verbracht habe! : ) Immer fühle ich den Drang etwas zu tun… meine Zeit sinnvoll zu vertreiben… und heute fand ich Nichtstun und im Schatten dösen und sinnieren das Sinnvollste! : )

On Thursday I planned to climb Mount Pimard (750 m) - from there you have a fantastic view... But fate wanted it differently and I had a day at the beach instead! A new construction prevents access to the hiking trail... I don't know when I last spent 4 hours lazing on the beach! : ) I always feel the urge to do something... to pass my time meaningfully... and today I found doing nothing and dozing and pondering in the shade to be the most meaningful thing to do! : )

Am Sonntag holte mich Sherman (+1-758-4872300) im Bayside Villa St. Lucia (www.baysidevillastlucia.com) ab, da meine Wohnung heute weitervermietet wird, und fuhr mich zur Rodney Bay, wo ich eine neue hübsche Wohnung gefunden hatte: Petti Rosa Villa, Gros Islet (airbnb.com/h/pettirosa). Das Wetter war sehr unbeständig… mit unberechenbaren und heftigen Regenschauern, so dass ich immer meinen Schirm dabei hatte…

On Sunday, Sherman (+1-758-4872300) picked me up at Bayside Villa St. Lucia (www.baysidevillastlucia.com), as my apartment is being rented out today, and drove me to Rodney Bay, where I had found a new lovely apartment: Petti Rosa Villa, Gros Islet (airbnb.com/h/pettirosa). The weather was very changeable... with unpredictable and heavy rain showers, consequently I always had my umbrella with me...

Wenn die Sonne schon nicht runterbrennt, ist es auch nicht zu heiss um zu wandern… so machte ich mich am Montag zu Fuss auf zur Nordosküste, die ich in ¾ Stunden erreichte. Die raue und wilde Landschaft der Anse Comerette, Anse Lapins und der Tousalee Beach sowie das graue Wetter erinnerte mich sehr an Irland (https://franziskaaeschbach29.blogspot.com)… Der Regen hatte Schlamm und Pfützen produziert, so dass meine Flipflops stecken blieben und ich barfuss weiterwaten musste! Am Meer säuberte der Algenteppich meine Füsse, aber nach dem Rückweg sah ich wieder genau gleich aus: dreckig wie ein Schwein! ; )

If the sun isn't burning down, it's not too hot to hike... so on Monday I set off on foot to the northeast coast, which I reached in ¾ hours. The rough and wild landscape of Anse Comerette, Anse Lapins and Tousalee Beach as well as the grey weather reminded me a lot of Ireland (https://franziskaaeschbach29.blogspot.com)... The rain had produced mud and puddles, so when my flip-flops got stuck I had to wade on barefoot! At the sea, a seaweed carpet cleaned my feet, but after the way back I looked exactly the same: dirty as a pig! ; )

Am nächsten Tag startete der Tag ebenfalls mit Sonnenschein – aber diesmal blieb er den ganzen Tag! : ) Heute wollte ich die irische Gegend bei Sonne sehen und wanderte ¾ Stunden an die Ostküste… Diesmal begann ich etwas nördlicher in Cas en Bas an der Anse Epouge. Wegen eines Golfkurses erlaubte man mir nicht weiter Richtung Norden zu gehen – also nahm ich die andere Richtung rund um den Mont Café zur 5$ Beach und weiter zur Tousalee Beach, wo ich gestern bereits war.

The next day also started with sunshine - but this time it stayed the whole day! : ) Today I wanted to see the Irish area in sunlight and hiked ¾ hours to the east coast... This time I started a little further north in Cas en Bas at Anse Epouge. Because of a golf course I was not allowed to continue further north - so I took the other direction around Mont Café to 5$ Beach and further to Tousalee Beach, where I had already been yesterday.

Weil ich schon früh wieder zurück war (das Meer ist nicht so einladend auf der Ostseite), spazierte ich zum Pigeon Island Beach in Gros Islet. Endlich entspannen und abkühlen im Meer! : ) Zurück schlenderte ich durch die Rodney Bay Marina und als ich Elena's (https://www.facebook.com/elenasstlucia) Pizzaofen sah, war der Abendessenplan im Nu gemacht! : )

Because I was back early (because the sea is not so inviting on the east side), I walked on to Pigeon Island Beach in Gros Islet. Finally relaxing and cooling down in the ocean! : ) On the way back I strolled through the Rodney Bay Marina and when I saw Elena's (https://www.facebook.com/elenasstlucia) pizza oven, my dinner plan was made in no time! : )
