Deodate vom Vigets/Villa Goût et Saveurs (https://www.facebook.com/vigetsrestaurant) fuhr mich am Sonntag um halb 11 zur Aloe
Location (https://www.aloelocation.fr) in der Nähe des Flughafens. Ich hatte bei Nadia für 5 Tage ein Auto
gemietet… und wie es sich in einem französischen Land gehört, ein französisches
Auto: einen Citroen C3. Martinique ist immerhin 1127 km² gross, 13 x grösser
als das 87 km2 kleine St. Martin... Nur in St. Martin war der Mietwagenpreis
weniger als die Hälfte wie hier…
Deodate of Vigets/Villa Goût et Saveurs (https://www.facebook.com/vigetsrestaurant) drove me to Aloe Location (https://www.aloelocation.fr) near the airport at half past ten on Sunday. I had rented a car from Nadia for 5 days... and as befits a French country, a French car: a Citroen C3. After all Martinique is 1127 km², 13 times bigger than the 87 km2 small St. Martin... Only, in St. Martin the rental car price was less than half as much as here...

Der C3 ist nicht gerade mein Lieblingsauto - ich
würde mir niemals einen kaufen! Erstens ist er manuell geschaltet, was nicht
nur in einer Stadt bei zu viel Verkehr mehr als mühsam ist! Das
Elektonikzubehör ist elementar und keine echte Hilfe - zum Vergleich mein
Favorit der Mietwagen: Kia Picanto - der perfekter Kleinwagen!
The C3 is not exactly my favourite car - I would never buy one! Firstly, it is manual, which is more than tedious, not just in a city with too much traffic! The electronic accessories are elementary and not a real help - by comparison, my favourite rental car: Kia Picanto - the perfect small car!

Ja, es hat sehr viel Verkehr auf der Insel Martinique...
immer! Auch hier werden die Autos grösser aber die Strassen bleiben meist
schmal! Die meisten Strassen sind gut bis super, wo nötig 4-spurig mit
abenteuerlichen Ausfahrten in der engen Stadt! Und immer um Mitternacht scheint
die Autobahn als Rennstrecke benutzt zu werden: Viele Raser konkurrieren mit
Geschwindigkeit und Lärm – und die Auspuffrohre senden ein Feuergefecht… es dröhnt
durch die ganze Stadt! Ich erwache jede Nacht und bin sicher nicht die einzige!
- Wie kann man so etwas nur akzeptieren!?
Yes, there is a lot of traffic on the island of Martinique... always! Here too, the cars are getting bigger but the streets mostly remain narrow! Most of the roads are good to great, 4-lane where necessary with adventurous exits in the narrow city! And every midnight the motorway seems to be used as a racing track: Lots of speeders compete with each other in terms of speed and noise – and the exhaust pipes send out a firefight… roaring through the whole city! I wake up every night and I'm sure I'm not the only one! - How can we accept something like that!?

Das Wetter? – Na ja, ziemlich wechselhaft… ich war
froh, alles im Auto mit dabeizuhaben statt es immer mit mir zu schleppen! Und
auch die Schlepperei meiner Einkäufe bergaufwärts erspart sich somit! : )

The weather? - Well, changeable… I was happy to have everything in the
car instead of always lugging it around with me! Renting a car also saves me
having to drag my shopping uphill! : )
