Der Regen
schien nicht aufzuhören... aber am Mittwoch Morgen sah es dann doch
freundlicher aus - los und raus!
The rain didn't seem to stop... but on Wednesday morning things looked better - let's go and get out!

Paul, den
ich vor 2 Tagen kennengelernt hatte, offerierte mich auf die andere Seite der
Bucht zu segeln. Er holte mich mit seinem Kanu ab und wir ruderten zu seinem
Segelschiff Caleta, wo sein Sohn Martin uns erwartete. Leise segelten wir
Richtung Anse de l’Âne und ankerten vor dem Strand. Als wir das Kanu bestiegen,
hatte es etwas Wasser drin, das sich während dem Rudern immer mehr füllte...
Ich versuchte mit einer PET Flasche das Wasser rauszuschöpfen... und hörte Paul
das zweite Mal leise sagen: Ich denke, wir sinken… - Und diesmal war es so: Ich
glitt sanft ins Wasser und hatte glücklicherweise das Wichtigste in meinen wasserdichten
Beutel gepackt! Ich schwamm ans Land und erreichte es völlig durchnässt, auch
mein wasserfester Beutel war feucht: Er war während des Schwimmens meist ganz
unter Wasser, er stützte meine Stofftasche und mich! Paul barg das Kanu und wir
hängten alles in den warmen Wind… es dauerte keine Stunde, bis alles trocken
war! : )
Paul, who I had met 2 days ago, offered to sail me to the other side of the bay. He picked me up in his canoe and we rowed to his sailing boat Caleta, where his son Martin awaited us. We sailed quietly towards Anse de l'Âne and anchored off the beach. When we got into the canoe, there was some water in it, which kept filling up while rowing... I tried to scoop out the water with a PET bottle... and heard Paul say quietly for the second time: I think we're sinking... - And this time it was true: I slipped gently into the water and luckily had packed the most important things in my waterproof bag! I swam shore and arrived completely soaked, even my waterproof bag was moist: It was most of the time completely under water while swimming, it supported my cotton bag and me! Paul stowed the canoe and we hung everything in the warm wind... it took less than an hour until everything was dry! : )

Paul
begleitete mich bis zur nächsten Bucht, der Anse Mitan, dann wanderte er
zurück. Ich spazierte dem Strand entlang nach Pointe du Bout, von wo ich mit
der Fähre Martinique Transport (https://www.martiniquetransport.mq/navettes-maritimes) zurück nach Fort de France kehrte... trocken und gratis, denn die Elektronik
funktionierte nicht... merci.

accompanied me to the next bay, Anse Mitan, from where he hiked back. I walked
along the beach to Pointe du Bout, from where I took the ferry Martinique Transport (https://www.martiniquetransport.mq/navettes-maritimes) back to Fort de
France... dry and free of charge, because the electronics didn't work... merci.
