Travelling
can be very exhausting
Heute stand ein Reisetag an – zwar nur zur nächsten
Insel St. Lucia, aber es zeigte sich wieder einmal: Reisen ist nicht immer
Ferien… Es beginnt mit den Vorbereitungen: Transportmittel finden – welche Verbindungen
gibt es wie und wann, brauche ich ein Auto, Transfer von/zur Unterkunft? Unterkunft
finden - wo ist es am idealsten auf der Insel?? Muss ich mich online anmelden???
Und packen…
Um 11 Uhr fuhr mich Deodate von Vigets/Villa Goût et Saveurs (https://www.facebook.com/vigetsrestaurant) zum Hafen. Meine Fähre Express des Iles (https://www.express-des-iles.fr) von Fort
de France nach Castries würde um 13:15 Uhr fahren… und zuvor musste man wie
üblich auf den karibischen Inseln viele Kontrollen passieren… zudem war ich
nicht die Einzige und es dauerte eine geschlagene Stunde um einzuchecken! Die
Fähre startete planmässig und ich hatte wenigstens 1 ½ Stunden Zeit mich etwas
auszuruhen!
Today was a travel day - only to the next island, St. Lucia, but it was once again clearly showed, that travelling not always means holidays... It starts with the preparations: finding means of transport - which connections are available, how and when, do I need a car, transfer from/to the accommodation? Finding accommodation - where is the best place to stay on the island?? Do I have to register online??? And packing...
At 11 am Deodate drove me from Vigets/Villa Goût et Saveurs (https://www.facebook.com/vigetsrestaurant) to the port. My ferry Express des Iles (https://www.express-des-iles.fr) from Fort de France to Castries would leave at 1:15 pm... and before that, as usual in the Caribbean islands, you had to go through a lot of checks... and I wasn't the only one, which took a full hour to check in! The ferry left on schedule and at least I had 1 ½ hours to rest a bit!

Nur in St. Lucia ging die ganze Kontrolliererei
wieder von vorne los : 45 dauerte es bis ich draussen war – und ich war
eine der Ersten! Shirley von Bayside Villa St. Lucia (www.baysidevillastlucia.com) erwartete mich schon und
wir hatten gerade noch Zeit einen Supermarkt zu besuchen, bevor sie alle sonntags
um 16 Uhr schliessen. Und eine lustige Überraschung: Mit Shirley kann ich
holländisch sprechen, da sie aus Surinam stammt. : )
Only in St. Lucia did the whole controlling process start all over again: It took 45 minutes until I was outside - and I was one of the first! Shirley from Bayside Villa St. Lucia (www.baysidevillastlucia.com) was already awaiting and we had just enough time to visit a supermarket before they all close at 4 pm on Sundays. And a funny surprise: I can speak Dutch with Shirley because she is from Suriname. : )

Glücklich installierte ich mich für eine Woche im Bayside
Villa St. Lucia Apartment im 1. Stock mit fantastischer Sicht auf den Hafen von
Castries, wo jeden Morgen ca. 3 Kreuzfahrschiffe anlegen – das wird mir etwas
mit der Besichtigung der Sehenswürdigkeiten auf St. Lucia!?

I happily settled in for a week in the Bayside Villa St. Lucia apartment
on the 1st floor with a fantastic view of the port of Castries, where about 3
cruise ships dock every morning - how will this work seeing the sights on St.
Lucia!?
