Ich hatte vorgestern bei Aloe Location (https://www.aloelocation.fr) ein Mietauto für 5 Tagegemietet - also nichts wie los auf
Entseckungstour: Heute stand die Westküste Richtung Norden bis nach Anse Céron,
Le Prêcheur, auf dem Programm!
Saint Pierre war einmal Martiniques Hauptstadt bis
1902 der Vulkan Mont Pelée (1397 m) ausbrach und alles unter Schutt und Asche
legte - auch 30'000 Menschen...
The day before yesterday I had rented a car for 5 days from Aloe Location (https://www.aloelocation.fr) - so off I went on a discovery tour: Today the west coast was on my programme heading north to Anse Céron, Le Prêcheur!
Saint Pierre was once Martinique's capital until the volcano Mont Pelée (1397 m) erupted in 1902 and laid everything in ashes - including 30,000 people...

Der nächste Tag zeigte sich freundlicher als die zuvor - vielleicht war es auch so in den Bergen? – Und ja, ich hatte zwar
eine herrliche Sicht auf die Pitons du Carbet (um 1110 m), aber nein, den Mont
Pelée bekam ich nie vor Gesicht... er blieb von Wolken bedeckt wie bisher...
Ich hatte ihn vor 20 Jahren bestiegen: 5-6 Stunden hin und zurück, Krater rauf
und runter... Das Wetter bisher ersparte mir eine zweite Besteigung, dafür fuhr
ich im Osten der Insel angelangt alles Richtung Norden bis nach Grand' Rivière.
The next day was friendlier than the ones before - maybe it was like that in the mountains too? - And yes, I did have a wonderful view of the Pitons du Carbet (around 1110 m), but no, I never saw Mont Pelée... it remained covered in clouds as before... I had climbed it 20 years ago: 5-6 hours both ways, up and down the craters... The weather so far saved me a second climb and I had time to drive the east coast direction north to Grand' Rivière.

Am Donnerstag war das Wetter echt beschissen: Kaum
war ich mit Sack und Pack bereit loszufahren, begann es wieder in Strömen zu
regnen! Ich schaffte es dann doch noch und die 4-spurige Autobahn brachte mich
in 30 Minuten (mit viel Verkehr) nach Le Robert im Osten. Heute hatte ich vor
die Halbinsel Caravelle zu erforschen. Leider vermieste das Wetter meine Fotos,
denn der Regen verdeckte mir die Aussicht! : (

On Thursday the weather was really bad: I had barely packed up and was
ready to set off when it started pouring with rain again! Finally I managed and
the 4-lane highway took me to Le Robert in the east in 30 minutes (with a lot
of traffic). Today I planned to explore the Caravelle peninsula. Unfortunately
the weather ruined my photos because the rain obscured the view! : (
